Brace yourselves — winter is coming! And as much as we love cozying up by the fireplace with a mug of hot cocoa, our skin might not be as thrilled about the dropping temperatures and dry air. But don't worry, I've got you covered with some tips and tricks to keep your skin glowing all winter long.
Moisturize like there's no tomorrow
As the temperatures drop and the air gets drier, your skin might start to feel like a raisin — not cutesy, not demure. Your skin can start to feel tighter, itchier, and more prone to flaking.
To combat the dryness, it's crucial to upgrade your moisturizer game. Switch to a heavier moisturizer that's rich in nourishing ingredients. Think of it as wrapping your face in a warm, fluffy blanket! Look for products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, or emollients, which help to lock in moisture and protect your skin from the harsh elements.
Apply generously, morning and night, and don't forget to give some extra love to those often-neglected areas like your neck and chest. At night, I like to go a little heavier handed with my products, making a little skin martini with a pump of my Freya Facial Oil with a scoop of my Eclipse Night Cream.

Eclipse Night Cream is rich in nourishing ingredients, like Manuka honey, Bakuchi fruit, lotus flower, hibiscus, blueberry, and organic plant oils. |
Cleanse with Care
When it comes to cleansing your skin during winter, think of it as a gentle dance between removing impurities and maintaining moisture. Harsh, stripping cleansers can be your skin's worst enemy when the weather outside is frightful, so choose wisely. Opt for creamy, hydrating formulas, like my Soothing Cream Cleanser, that gently removes dirt and oil without leaving your skin feeling tight or dry.
For those of you who love to rock a full face of makeup or layer on skincare products, you might want to consider double cleansing. Start with a gentle cleansing balm like my Unveiled Cleansing Balm to melt away stubborn makeup and dirt, followed by a creamy, hydrating cleanser to ensure every last bit of grime is washed away.
Double cleansing might sound like extra work, but trust me, it's worth it. By using two gentle steps instead of one harsh one, you'll be able to thoroughly cleanse your skin without compromising its moisture barrier.
To ensure your skin stays happy and hydrated, it's also essential to pay attention to the water temperature. While a steaming hot shower might sound heavenly on a cold winter day, it can strip your skin of its natural oils. So, keep the water lukewarm, and remember to pat (not rub!) your skin dry with a soft towel to avoid irritation.
Keep Up With SPF
Sunscreen isn't just for summertime. Even on the gloomiest winter days, those pesky UV rays can still sneak through the clouds and damage your skin. To keep your skin healthy and protected, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily, even though the those UV rays feel less direct and intense.
For those of you who enjoy winter sports or just love frolicking in the snow, it's important to remember that the sun can be even more deceiving and damaging during this time of year. The bright white snow reflects sunlight, increasing your exposure to harmful UV rays. So whether you're hitting the ski slopes, going for a snowshoe hike, or building the ultimate snow fort, make sure to apply and reapply your favorite SPF.
Trust me, a little extra effort now will save you from sunburn, premature aging, and other long-term skin woes.
Hydration Station
During winter, both indoor heating and cold outdoor temperatures can zap the moisture out of your skin, leaving it parched and unhappy.
Keep a humidifier running in your home or office to add some much-needed moisture back into the air. And don't forget to stay hydrated from the inside out — drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin plump and radiant. Remember, a hydrated complexion is a happy complexion.
Treat yourself to a hydration masque once or twice a week to give it an extra dose of hydration. Look for ingredients like glycerin, vitamin B5, and even moisture from the bees with Manuka honey, which help attract and lock in moisture.
With these tips in your back pocket, you'll be ready to face winter head-on, armed with healthy, happy skin. Winter and the holidays are already stressful enough, make skincare one less thing to worry about.
